Stanze al Genio
During a trip to Italy, I met a man who collected small ceramic tiles and enjoyed covering the walls of his house with them, from floor to ceiling. His collection was so vast and skillfully showcased that his place became a museum.
A true historical and cultural quilt of Sicily, this unusual exhibition impressed me both because of its volume and the dense and orderly arrangement of the ceramic tiles. The meticulous alternation between the brightly coloured tiles and the smooth, plain walls is what I wanted to transpose into my paintings.
The Stanze al Genio collection already includes several unique works. I will gradually add other paintings to this series, which I hope will be infinite.
