The Mechanics of Days

One day, I started collecting all types of gears. I wanted to use this element in my works, and the idea of the mechanics of days and passing time came to mind.

All of the works in this collection include gears in the form of prints or glued-on parts. A symbol of industry, the gear adds a historical component to the works. It also provides a way to express the uninterrupted movement through which the present irrevocably becomes the past. Combining the gears with an arrangement of kaleidoscopic colours creates an impression of distortion, recalling the inescapable outcome of life.

The Mechanics of Days collection is composed mainly of research paintings. It also makes reference to an album by Jeanphilip. I will gradually add other works to this series, which I hope will be infinite.
